Building "R"
Confidential Client
This unique project involved the integration of structural steel and mass timber to create a hybrid building. Unlike traditional construction, where metal and timber are erected sequentially, this project required both materials to work together structurally. Key features include mass timber components such as columns, glulam beams, and Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT). To address mechanical challenges, the team designed an in-house engineered drop ceiling/lid that maintained the CLT aesthetic while accommodating necessary space for mechanical systems. Vaagen provided the timber beams, while Veksel acted as the Project Manager due to the project’s size and scale. Faust handled the erection of the building. The completed structure will serve as high-end office space for Microsoft, often referred to as their “gem” building.
